How to Create a Home that Boosts Your Health and Happiness - a book by Victoria Harrison

A good, easy, joyful and easy to consume afternoon read. This is a lovely and inspiring book in its simplicity - a collection of simple, practical, quick-to-implement tips and ideas explaining us how our home can contribute to our overall wellbeing if we make the suggested changes outlined in the book.

It revolves around one question: "I set out to try and find the answer to one simple question: Can our home make us happier?"

When the most of us think about happiness we tend to think of something big, significant and complicated mainly from the physical realm of life approved and acknowledged by others. While in fact happiness lies within us and it can be the smallest and most insignificant 'something' that brings the most joy into our life.

I for one certainly believe that our home has a huge potential to help us feel more content, grounded, connected, joyous, balanced and healthier. In one word: happier. Every detail of your home, every choice you make about your home has some influence on you and your life.

As Victoria Harrison writes "...small moments of domestic contentment are easy to overlook, but maybe we should be focusing on them more in order to boost our wellbeing."

I love the fact that the author did her own background work and research to scientifically support the theory that our home can make us happy indeed. As there still are too many people thinking that all these 'happiness and vibration talks' about interiors are utter nonsense and do not hold water at all. She interviewed several experts and scientists to prove that theories such as plants, scents, colours, clutter do have an impact on how we feel and behave in a space - how calm or anxious, productive or insufficient, sluggish or energised, social or withdrawn we are.

My favourite part was the 'Flower power' chapter. Victoria clearly has a love for the greenery and gardening as plants and flowers are a common theme throughout the whole book. I have learnt a few things about them, like how to keep them alive longer or how to choose and arrange flowers that suit a certain interior style.

There are additional great tips on how to design your bedroom for a good and healthy sleep, how to bring more light or more coziness into your home or how to keep it tidy and organised as well as on simple and mindful living.

A delightful and handy book for anyone who wants no-fluff, affordable and quick tips on how to design their living spaces to achieve improved wellbeing, health and happiness.

Styling and Decorating - Express Yourself

You might have a newly purchased home that needs a full styling service or you already have the big pieces in place but the interior still lacks that "wow" factor and need some help with the smaller details.

Perhaps you just need a sort of design remix to refresh your space and give it a new look.

Or alternatively you are about to sell or rent your property and wish to make it more appealing and valuable for possible buyers and renters.
